Police officers on duty at Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) and equivalent examination centres will use body cameras to ensure security, Education Minister ANM Ehsanul Hoque Milon has said.
Addressing a press conference at the education ministry on Wednesday, Milon said the move is aimed at preventing the entry of outsiders at the centres.
A total of 1,270,583 students are sitting for their HSC and equivalent examinations from Thursday.
The examinations are being held at 2,697 centres across the country. The written examinations of the nine general boards and the Madrasah board will end on Aug 8, while the practical examinations will continue until Aug 15.
Milon said, "We have requested the police administration to ensure its members stationed at the centres wear body cameras.
“We’ve included this new feature to ensure the law-and-order situation is under control."
He warned of legal action over misleading news or information on the exams on social media.
"Misleading news was circulated on social media during the last HSC exams, and now there is a cybersecurity law to prevent it,” said Milon.
If anyone spreads such news, they should be handed over to law enforcers immediately, said the minister.
Stricter legal action will be taken against them after analysing the news or information in question so nobody is confused about the exams on social media, he added.
