Rashed Al Mahmud Titumir, the prime minister’s advisor on economic affairs and planning has warned of intensifying public suffering in the coming days, citing the lingering impact of high inflation over the past three years.
Speaking at a discussion at the Faridpur deputy commissioner’s conference room on Friday, the advisor highlighted that the current government assumed office under exceptionally hostile economic conditions.
The advisor pointed out that the sustained inflationary pressure has already led to a rise in the number of people living in poverty across the country.
“This trend may cause even more suffering in the days ahead, potentially pushing more citizens below the poverty line,” Titumir said.
Addressing historical imbalances, the advisor remarked that no previous political party had seriously worked to eliminate regional disparities.
He emphasised the current administration's commitment to steering the country forward through balanced regional growth.
“The prime minister does not believe in empty rhetoric, he proves his commitment through action,” he said, citing recent high-level meetings with investors as a "landmark chapter" for the nation’s economy.
