In a surprise move amid a turbulent period for the country’s cricket, the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has said Shakib Al Hasan may again be considered for the national team — but only under certain conditions.
BCB Director Amzad Hussain announced the decision at a press conference on Saturday following a long meeting of the board of directors.
“Many of you have raised questions about Shakib Al Hasan. I want to inform you that the board has discussed the matter,” he said.
According to him, the board unanimously agreed that Shakib’s availability, fitness and accessibility, as well as his ability to be present at venues where matches are played, will be taken into account before any future selection.
“If he fulfils these conditions, the board or the selection committee will certainly consider Shakib for future national team selection,” Amzad said.
The BCB also said there will be no restriction on Shakib’s participation in overseas tournaments.
“Shakib Al Hasan will be able to take part in other global tournaments, because the board will provide his no objection certificate (NOC) as required,” the director added.
