Kolkata Knight Riders have secured a dominant eight-wicket victory against the Rajasthan Royals with 15 balls to spare at the Barsapara Stadium in Guwahati in their IPL clash.
Rajasthan could not amass a big total on the board as they lost wickets in regular intervals despite a good start after being invited to bat on Wednesday.
Spinners Varun Chakravarthy and Moeen Ali were brilliant with the ball while Quinton de Kock played a quickfire 97 off just 61. They lost the momentum despite scoring 51 runs in the powerplay in 6 overs.
Sanju Samson departed early, after scoring 13 off 11 while Yashasvi Jaiswal and Riyan Parag provided some resistance for Rajasthan. But, back-to-back wickets in consecutive overs put them under pressure. They were eventually bundled out for 151 in their 20 overs.
Chasing 152, Kolkata suffered an early blow in the absence of Sunil Narine. Moeen, who opened in place of Narine, managed only 5.
De Kock then built a good 29-run partnership with captain Ajinkya Rahane.
Although Rahane, the last game hero got out for 18, De Kock single-handedly guided the team to victory. His innings included 8 fours and 6 sixes.
Ankrish Raghuvanshi supported him with an unbeaten 22 off 17 balls.
