Phillips, Bracewell coast to win
Phillips (21) and Bracewell (11) have sent New Zealand past the finishing line with 5 wickets and 23 balls to spare. Bangladesh missed four opportunities to dismiss Rachin Ravindra and paid dearly for it. The performance in the field crucially contributed to the difference between the two teams.
New Zealand now proceed to the semis along with India from the group, while Bangladesh bow out. Today's result also sealed the fate of hosts and defending champions Pakistan in Group A.

Tom Latham (55) has run himself out while attempting a single by pushing the ball to mid-on. Mahmudullah picked up the ball and threw it at the non-striker’s end in a flash, catching Latham short on the line.

Conway falls to Mustafizur slower
Conway (30) was already looking tentative against Mustafizur who rolled out a slower that the left-handed batter tried to guide towards backward point. But the ball moves in slightly, takes the inside edge, and then rolls onto the stumps.
New Zealand was still on par with the required rate, but with the dismissal, Bangladesh ended a 57-run partnership between Conway and Ravindra.

New Zealand 50 up after powerplay
Rachin Ravindra and Devon Conway have managed to ease the pressure after Bangladesh seamers struck twice early in the chase.
Bangladesh succeeded by pitching the ball up and continued to do so. But the two batters were getting to the pitch of the ball for drives exquisitely.
The duo clubbed 11 boundaries between them as the Black Caps reached 54 for 2 in 10 overs.

Williamson falls to Rana
The seamers have completely changed the complexion of the game with two early wickets. After Taskin’s first-over strike, Nahid Rana bowled one at 148.8 clicks with two men in the slips.
The perfect length ball was pitched in at good length to draw Williamson out before slight movement secured an edge for the wicket with the batsman on 5.
Great stuff from Bangladesh who are starting to believe with New Zealand on 19 for 2 in 4 overs.

Taskin grabs wicket maiden
Taskin Ahmed has given Bangladesh’s defence of 236 runs a dream start by grabbing the wicket of Will Young in the first over, which was also a maiden.
After cramping the batsman for room the previous five balls, Taskin squared up another to draw a straight drive from the batsman and sneak through the gates.

As long as Jaker was in the middle, his sprightly scoring gave hopes of reaching a total around 250, but he ran himself out in the first ball of the penultimate over.
He laced his 55-ball 44 with three boundaries and a six. After he got out, the rest of the tail scored just 5 runs in the last 11 balls, even the last ball of the innings ending in a dot ball.
The innings contained 25 extras and a total of 181 dot balls. Bracewell led the Black Caps bowling, picking up 4 for 26 while O’Rourke grabbed 2 for 48.

Shanto holes out as NZ chip away
New Zealand have fielded with poise, contributing to Bangladesh’s current state in a big way. After his 4-26, Bracewell ran across from midwicket to where the bowler’s run-up to grab a skier from Shanto (77 off 110).
The dismissal is a major setback for Bangladesh who were already struggling to raise the scoring rate.
Bangladesh were 165 for 6 in 38 overs with Jaker Ali and Rishad Hossain holding things together in the middle.

Tigers losing plot with Mahmudullah gone
New Zealand bowlers have taken three quick wickets, the last of them being Mahmudullah, to leave Bangladesh teetering on 118 for 5 in 26.1 overs.
Mahmudullah (4 off 14) hacked one from Bracewell across the line, but could only manage an outside edge that floated out towards short third man.
Bracewell completed his 10 overs returning 4 for 26, putting New Zealand in the drivers’ seat.
Shanto was now joined by Jaker Ali in the middle as they tried to see through the middle overs without further loss.

Shanto hits fifty to anchor
The Bangladesh skipper reached his third half-century in the last eight innings, a sequence which includes his highest ODI score as well, 122 vs Sri Lanka.
Today’s knock has been a patient, steady one, the only trouble he's faced coming from his own team-mates losing the plot at the other end.
A lot depends now on Shanto who needs to stretch his innings to help Bangladesh, who stood at 113 for 4 in 24 overs, a chance of posting a challenging total.

Mushfiqur gone after Tigers go 100-up
Mushfiqur Rahim, who targeted the longest boundary of the ground, backed himself to clear it, but failed. Rachin Ravindra took a safe catch near the ropes as two quick wickets hurt Bangladesh’s prospects of a good score.

Bracewell takes out Hridoy
Bangladesh lost their third wicket when Hridoy slashed at one outside offstump only to sky it for a well-judged catch by Williamson who ran back from short cover.
The Tigers were 98 for 3 in 21 overs as the scoring rate significantly dropped after the first powerplay.
Shanto was still forging at 46 not out, and was joined by Mushfiqur Rahim in the middle.

Miraz departs attempting quick runs
Miraz gifted away his wicket to a full William ORourke delivery on the pads which the allrounder lobbed straight to midwicket in a tame dismissal.
The wicket pegged Bangladesh further back in their search for a confident start, now on 64 for 2 in 12 overs.
Shanto was joined by the centurion from the match against India, Towhid Hridoy, as they try to steady the ship for Bangladesh.

Tigers’ hopes of a breezy powerplay was dented when Tanzid Hasan departed sending spinner Michael Bracewell straight to short mid-on.
Shanto and Tazid were dealing with the seamers well, working their way to runs as the skipper hammered Jamieson for three boundaries in the eighth over. It prompted Santner to bring in the spinner and he was rewarded.

Bangladesh bat to stay alive
New Zealand skipper Mitchell Santner won the toss and opted to field against Bangladesh in their second Group A game of the Champions Trophy.
The Tigers are in a battle for survival as they must win to stay alive in the competition in Rawalpindi on Thursday.
A win for New Zealand will put both them and India through to the semi-finals of the 2025 Champions Trophy, eliminating hosts Pakistan in the process as well.
“We'll bowl first, looks like a good wicket. We trained a lot in different grounds, but there might be some dew here. Two changes here - Kyle Jamieson in for Nathan Smith, and Rachin Ravindra is back in,” Santner said.
Bangladesh skipper Najmul Hossain Shanto said: “Would have liked to bowl as well. Two changes for us - Mahmudullah is back in for us. The way we fought back against India after that collapse gives us a lot of confidence.”
