Dhaka, Dec 22 (bdnews24.com) - Former Bangladesh skipper Shakib Al Hasan has become the number one all-rounder after his sterling performance against Pakistan in the second and final Test at Mirpur in Dhaka though Pakistan clinched the two-Test series 2-0.
The former Bangladesh skipper became the top all-rounder after Reliance International Cricket Council Rankings updated data on Thursday, giving Shakib 404 points. He pushed South African allrounder Jacques Kallis to second on 397 points.
Shakib who bcame the first Bangladeshi player to earn a rare double scoring a century and claiming five-for, was adjudged man of the match in the final Test. The 24-year-old allrounder ended the match with 150 runs and seven wickets.
Shakib followed his first-innings 144 with the bat by snapping up six for 82 with the ball as the hosts bowled out Pakistan for 470 in their first innings.
He has also improved his batting and bowling in the latest batting and bowling ranking of the ICC.
Shakib has vaulted seven places to claim a career-best 31st position while in the bowling chart he has claimed seventh position after gaining two places.
Earlier in October, the left-hander was adjudged man of the match against West Indies. He also climbed to the top of the ICC ODI allrounder rankings after his impressive performances in the ODI series against the West Indies.
Shakib was on the top of the ICC ODI allrounder ranking between January 2009 and April 2011. Australia's Shane Watson was the top-ranked ODI all-rounder for seven months. He piped Shakib into No.1 position in the all-rounders' rankings after the Test series against Bangladesh.
Shakib stepped down from the captaincy to concentrate on his personal performance following the failure in the ODI and Test series against Zimbabwe in July this year.
