As part of its initiatives, the university distributed 1250 large mosquito nets among the slum dwellers of Kalyanpur, Mirpur in Dhaka in a bid to protect them from the deadly dengue virus.

The move came in the wake of a massive outbreak of the disease which has been plaguing the capital and several other parts of Bangladesh recently.

IUB Vice Chancellor (Acting) Prof Milan Pagon handed over the nets to the vulnerable during a campaign organised on Aug 4, 2019.

Additionally, Registrar Md Anwarul Islam, School of Public Health Assistant Professor Dr Nafisa Huq, students, and large number of community workers were also present at the event.

IUB launched another initiative the next day and sprayed insecticide in various parts of Bashundhara Residential Area.

The university also organised a large rally to create awareness for the prevention of dengue.

Prof Milan Pagon led the campaigns while the university’s treasurer, registrar, deans, faculty members, members of the administration, and a large number of students also took part in the event, earning the appreciation of Bashundhara residents.
