In line with the government's Eid-ul-Azha holiday schedule, commercial banks in Bangladesh will remain closed for seven consecutive days, with operations set to resume on Jun 1.
All bank branches and sub-branches will remain open and conduct normal transactions on Saturday, May 23, and Sunday, May 24.
The central bank announced the schedule in a circular on Monday, sending it to the chief executives of all scheduled banks.
The central bank directive follows a May 14 notification from the Ministry of Public Administration, which cancelled the weekly holiday on Saturday, May 23, declaring it a regular working day.
Consequently, May 24 will be the final full working day for banks before Eid.
Commercial banks will then remain closed from Monday, May 25 to Sunday, May 31.

To facilitate the payment of salaries, bonuses, and other allowances to garment workers, bank branches located in garment industry hubs will remain open on a limited scale on May 25 and 26.
These areas include the Dhaka metropolitan area, Ashulia, Tongi, Gazipur, Savar, Bhaluka, Narayanganj, and Chattogram.
The operating hours for these specific branches will be from 10am to 3pm, while transaction hours will be from 10am to 1pm.
The circular directed bank branches, sub-branches, and booths situated in seaports, land ports, and airports to maintain limited operations to facilitate import and export activities during the holidays.
According to the Ministry of Public Administration, all government, semi-government, autonomous, semi-autonomous, and private offices across the country will enjoy a seven-day holiday from May 25 to May 31 for Eid-ul-Azha.
