The government has kept the prices of diesel, kerosene, octane and petrol unchanged for July, maintaining the rates set in June from July 1.
The Energy and Mineral Resources Division under the power ministry conveyed the decision to the chairman of the Bangladesh Petroleum Corporation (BPC) in a letter on Tuesday.
The letter said the notification issued on May 31 fixed retail prices at Tk 115 per litre for diesel, Tk 135 for kerosene, Tk 145 for octane and Tk 140 for petrol.
"With the approval of the competent authority, these prices have been kept unchanged for July 2026. Accordingly, the latest approved rates will remain effective from Jul 1, 2026," the letter said.
Bangladesh introduced an automatic fuel pricing mechanism in 2024 under which fuel prices are adjusted monthly in line with international market trends.
The pricing formula takes into account international fuel prices, import costs, duties and taxes, the exchange rate against the US dollar, BPC's margin, VAT and distribution costs.
Under the prices that took effect on Jun 1, diesel remained at Tk 115 per litre, while octane, petrol and kerosene prices were increased by Tk 5 per litre. Those rates will continue throughout July.
