Deputy CEO and CMO Yasir Azman, who led the employee celebrations at the company’s headquarters, said:

“We are very excited to launch 4G services in Bangladesh. We are working with different stakeholders to make the service affordable for our customers starting with the launch of two co-branded 4G-enabled smartphones yesterday. We will continue our efforts to enable our customers to connect to what matters most to them and enjoy the full benefit of the best 4G services of the country.”

The 4G services will be available in Dhaka’s Basundhara, Baridhara and Gulshan and the Dampara, Khulshi and Nasirabad areas of Chittagong. More areas of the two cities will receive 4G coverage in the next few days and expansion into most divisional cities ‘very shortly’, Grameenphone said in a statement.

Grameenphone plans to cover all district headquarters in the next six months.

The company, alongside other telecom firms, was granted an operating license on 4G service by the Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission following the recent spectrum auction.
