An embassy official has confirmed to bdnews24.com about the ambassador’s return on Friday morning.
A senior foreign ministry official who refused to be quoted for this story told bdnews24.com that they had received the note of his return to the assignment.
Two days back, Bangladesh’s Ambassador in Ankara Allama Siddiki joined his work as he was also recalled for consultations, days after Turkey's ambassador left Dhaka, in an apparent retaliation.
This has apparently put to the rest the recent crisis emerging over the war crimes trial.
Bangladesh, however, did not see any strain in the ties. Foreign Minister, AH Mahmood Ali, in May said the relations were “normal”. “There is no rift”.
The Jamaat leader Nizami was the chief of Al Badr militia force that assisted Pakistan Army in 1971 and took part in the genocide during the nine-month war.
He was sentenced to death for the killings of intellectuals, murder of civilians and rape.
However, President Erdogan, following the execution, in a statement said he believed Nizami has done “no earthly sin”.
“I think that such proliferation of hatred there, and the ordering of such death sentences despite our repeated initiatives, is neither fair governance nor a democratic mentality,” he said.
Erdogan recently survived a failed coup attempt following which his government has detained as many as 35,022 people including half of army generals.
Reuters on Thursday quoting Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu reported that two officials from Bangladesh had fled to New York as military attaches and diplomats from Turkey’s different missions were fleeing to escape post-coup inquiry.
