Protestors demand arrest of Jamuna Group Chairman Nurul Islam Babul

Dhaka, Aug 4 (BDNEWS) –Hundreds of people Friday staged demonstrations in front of the Baitul Mukarram National Mosque to protest different products of 'Jamuna Group' and demand the arrest of its owner Nurul Islam Babul.
Under the banners of different Islamic parties and organisations, they protestors brought out separate processions, held rallies and set ablaze the effigy of the Jamuna Group owner.
According to eye-witnesses, Islamic Constitution Movement (ICM), Khilafat Andolan Bangladesh and Allahar Dal, Bangladesh Islamic Samaj and Jamiat-e-Talabae Arabia led the demonstrations.
Besides, several hundred employees of 'Basundhara Group' joined the agitating Musallis, witnesses said adding that the employees had come from Savar and Aminbazar in several buses.
Moreover, the Islamic organisations hired a number of students from different madrasas in the city, they alleged.
At the rallies, the agitators said that under different names – Pineapple Juice and Lemon Juice -- the 'Jamuna Group' was marketing earlier banned beverages 'Hunter' and 'Crown'.
The agitators termed the 'Jamuna Group' and its owner 'financers' of anti-Islamic forces in the country.
They demanded immediate arrest of Nurul Islam Babul and his trial under the Speedy Trial Tribunal.
