He visited Banshkata enclave in Lalmonirhat on Wednesday.
“The residents of the enclaves need special allocations to facilitate their entry into the mainstream of development, after 68 years of deprivation,” Rahman told reporters after visiting Banshkata.
“They need special quota and financial help if necessary,” he said.
He also said the commission would ask the government to relax the age limit for jobs for them.
Rahman’s visit followed the exchange of documents of ratification of the Land Boundary Agreement between Bangladesh and India during Indian Prime minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Dhaka on June 6-7.
The NHRC chairman first spoke to the officials of Patgram Upazila Parishad and then to the residents of Banshkata enclave.
They requested the NHRC chief to ensure that no outsider entered the enclaves to torture them.
Rahman said he would convey their demand to the government and asked the administration to deal firmly any violation of human rights.
