Dhaka, May 7 (bdnews24.com)—The government on Thursday appointed Justice Mohammad Bazlur Rahman a permanent judge of the High Court.
President Zillur Rahman approved the appointment in line with section 95 (1) of the constitution with effect from the date of his taking oath to office.
Chief justice M M Ruhul Amin will administer his oath to office at 10:30am Sunday at the Judges' Lounge in the Supreme Court building.
Justice Bazlul Rahman told bdnews24.com, "I received the appointment letter at 3pm. The chief Justice will administer the oath taking at 10.30am on Sunday.
He was appointed to the High Court on July 3, 2001 and worked as a temporary judge for two years until July 3, 2003 because the then BNP-led government did not give him permanent appointment.
Rahman was appointed as assistant attorney general in 1996 and deputy attorney general in 1999.
He was enlisted as a bar council lawyer in 1984 and later became High Court lawyer in 1987. He did master's with sociology from Rajshahi University in 1984 after graduating with law in 1977 from the university.
Justice Rahman was born on Apr 12, 1955 at Puratan Bazar of Chapainawabganj district town.
