Another student has died of the burns he suffered in the jet crash at Milestone School and College in Dhaka’s Diabari.
Fourteen-year-old Sahil Farabi Ayan succumbed to his wounds around 1:45am on Monday, according Dr Shawon Bin Rahman, resident surgeon of the National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery.
Ayan had suffered burns on 40 percent of his body, including his windpipe, and was receiving treatment at the hospital, Shawon said.
So far, 18 people have died of their injuries from the disaster at the burn institute. The overall death toll stands at 34. Most of the dead are children.
The Ministry of Health had previously revised down the death toll from the incident to 33 after identifying 14 bodies inside the 15 "bodybags" at Dhaka’s Combined Military Hospital (CMH), and confirming that the fatalities recorded at Lubana Hospital and United Hospital referred to the same person.
Ayan, a student in seventh grade at Milestone’s English Medium section, is the son of Mohammad Ali Mahmud and Tamanna. The couple lived with their son at a home in Mirpur’s Manipur area.

Another 34 patients with burns and other injuries are still receiving treatment at the national burn institute, while 11 patients are at the CMH, and one patient is at the National Institute of Mental Health and Hospital.
