Around 2pm, the BNP’s acting chairman will visit the grave at Babanpur Jafarpara in Pirgonj Upazila before travelling by road to Dinajpur.
Retired captain Gani Ul Azam, the coordinator for the tour, confirmed the itinerary.
Outlining the four-day programme, he said Tarique will start his journey from Dhaka on Jan 11, travelling by road through Tangail and Sirajganj, and will stay overnight in Bogura.
On Jan 12, he will leave Bogura for Rangpur via Pirgonj, then proceed to Dinajpur. From there, he will travel to Thakurgaon and stay the night.
On Jan 13, Tarique will visit Panchagarh, Nilphamari and Lalmonirhat, before returning to Rangpur for the night.
He is scheduled to return to Dhaka on Jan 14 via Bogura.
During the tour, Tarique will also visit the graves of Maulana Abdul Hamid Khan Bhashani, and Taiyaba Majumder, along with other martyrs of the long democratic movement.
He is also set to meet the families of the dead and those injured during the July protests.
Rangpur district BNP Convenor and Rangpur-6 (Pirgonj) candidate Saiful Islam said preparations were under way to receive Tarique, but no large arrangements were being made to avoid violating the election code of conduct.
Regarding the Sirajganj leg of the trip, BNP Standing Committee member Iqbal Hasan Mahmud Tuku and other officials confirmed that the journey will commence with a prayer session for the late BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia.
The prayer will be held at 2:30pm at the BSCIC Industrial Park in Paikpara area of Sirajganj Sadar Upazila, about 10km south of the Jamuna Bridge west bank highway.
The 162-hectare industrial park on the Jamuna River has been developed but remains without structures. The prayer gathering will be held inside its secured premises.
Preparations for the event have already begun, party sources said.
