The Directorate of Primary Education has published the final results of recruitment for assistant teachers in government primary schools, appointing 14,384 candidates across 61 districts.

The results were released on Sunday night on the directorate’s website, just a week after the oral exams ended and within a month of the written test.

The written exam was held on Jan 9 at 1,408 centres nationwide, with 830,088 candidates appearing.

Results were published on Jan 21, declaring 69,265 successful.

Oral tests for those who passed began on Jan 28 and concluded on Feb 3.

The final results were published a week later.

In the first phase, on Nov 5, 2025, a recruitment notification was issued for 10,219 assistant teacher posts in schools across the Rajshahi, Rangpur, Sylhet, Khulna, Barishal and Mymensingh divisions.

In the second phase, on Nov 12, applications were invited for 4,166 assistant teacher posts in schools under the Dhaka and Chattogram divisions.

A large number of jobseekers applied to take part in the examinations.

During the written test on Jan 9, more than 200 candidates were expelled on allegations of adopting unfair means and using electronic devices, triggering protests and demands for the examination to be cancelled.

In response, the directorate referred the allegations raised by the protesters to an intelligence agency for investigation.

The agency later reported that it found no evidence to substantiate the claims.
