The death toll from torrential rain, flash floods and landslides has climbed to 54, while more than 150,000 families remain stranded across seven flood-hit districts.

The disaster management ministry said on Monday that 609,411 people have been affected in Khagrachhari, Rangamati, Bandarban, Cox's Bazar, Chattogram, Moulvibazar and Habiganj.

Floodwaters have inundated 334 unions, 12 municipalities and 59 Upazilas.

Cox's Bazar has recorded the heaviest toll, with 31 deaths -- 18 local residents and 13 Rohingya refugees -- while 24 people were injured and one remains missing.

Chattogram reported 13 deaths, followed by Bandarban with six, Rangamati three and Moulvibazar one.

Authorities have opened 1,049 shelters, accommodating 38,422 people, including 16,821 in Chattogram.

The ministry said relief efforts had been intensified, with 8,950 tonnes of rice and Tk 46 million allocated for the seven districts, alongside cash assistance, dry food and other essentials.

Separate allocations were also made district-wise, while the Prime Minister's Relief Fund provided an additional Tk 2 million each to Rangamati and Bandarban.
