The pilot phase of the Fuel Pass BD app has been expanded beyond Dhaka district, with authorities opening motorcycle registration in several other districts under a wider rollout plan.
In a Facebook post on Saturday, the Ministry of Power, Energy and Mineral Resources said motorcycles registered in metropolitan and regional hubs -- including Dhaka, Chandpur, Chattogram, Barishal, Khulna, Rajshahi, and Mymensingh -- are now included under the digital system.
The ministry said 18 more petrol pumps in the Dhaka district are being integrated into the pilot scheme.
While the specific names and locations of these stations were not listed in the post, officials confirmed that the initiative will be “gradually” opened to other districts across the country in phases.
Authorities thanked stakeholders for their cooperation and participation in implementing the digital fuel management system.
Citizens were also urged to join the official Fuel Pass Facebook group to share feedback, complaints and suggestions, with the link provided in the comment section of the post.
This digital pilot originally kicked off on Apr 9, when the Energy and Mineral Resources Division launched the service at the Trust Filling Station in Tejgaon and the Sonar Bangla LPG Station and Conversion Centre at Asad Gate.
In this initial stage, the service remains exclusive to motorcyclists, who must scan a QR code to receive their designated fuel allocation.
The Bangladesh Petroleum Corporation (BPC) has also made provisions for users without smartphones to register via the website and use a printed QR code.
Following the launch, some stations began offering extra fuel to app users to encourage adoption.
The Trust Filling Station introduced a dedicated lane for registrants, while the Sonar Bangla Station announced it would stop serving customers without the app from Saturday.
This expansion comes as authorities seek to bring discipline to fuel distribution amid global supply uncertainties and local demand pressures.
Earlier in March, the BPC imposed limits on the retail sale of fuel oil to manage stock more effectively.
