Prime Minister Tarique Rahman has laid a wreath at the Monument to the People's Heroes at Tiananmen Square on the final day of his state visit to China.
He placed the floral tribute at 9:15am local time on Friday at the iconic stone obelisk, which stands at the centre of the vast square in the heart of Beijing and commemorates those who died in the revolutionary struggles that led to the founding of the People's Republic of China in 1949.
The national anthems of both countries were played and a bugle sounded as Tarique stood in silence to pay his respects to China's revolutionary heroes.

Present at the ceremony were his wife Zubaida Rahman, Foreign Minister Khalilur Rahman, Information and Broadcasting Minister Zahir Uddin Swapon, Water Resources Minister Shahid Uddin Chowdhury Anee, Economic Advisor Rashed Al Mahmud Titumir, Foreign Affairs Advisor Humaiun Kobir, Prime Minister's Office spokesperson Mahdi Amin and Additional Press Secretary Atikur Rahman Ruman.
Tarique is set to meet Chinese President Xi Jinping at 10am local time, followed by a meeting with National People's Congress Standing Committee Chairman Zhao Leji at the Great Hall of the People and a visit to a Chinese museum.
He and his delegation are due to leave Beijing at 5pm local time and are expected to land in Dhaka at 7pm Bangladesh time.

The three-day state visit began on Wednesday when Tarique arrived in Beijing after attending the World Economic Forum in the northeastern city of Dalian.
On Thursday, he held bilateral talks with Chinese Premier Li Qiang at the Great Hall, after which the two countries signed 13 memoranda of understanding covering investment, media cooperation and other areas.
Li hosted a luncheon in Tarique's honour at the venue.
Tarique's China visit is part of a broader foreign tour that began on Jun 21 with a two-day state visit to Malaysia -- his first overseas trip since the BNP formed a government after winning the February election.
