A terrorist attack on the Holey Artisan Bakery in Dhaka’s Gulshan area left as many as 20 persons, mostly foreigners, dead on Friday.

A commando operation mounted in the wee hours on Saturday led to the rescue some hostages and death of six of the seven holed up terrorists, though 20 foreigners were killed with sharp weapons on Friday night before the army moved in.

After the operation on Saturday, the Army's Brigadier General Nayeem Ashfaq Chowdhury said at a press conference that the bodies of the 20 victims would be sent to the CMH for autopsy in keeping with convention.

About two hours later, around 3:30 pm, an eyewitness told bdnews24.com that the bodies had been brought out of the cafe and placed on a lawn outside.

They were put into 13 ambulances shortly afterwards.

DMP Deputy Commissioner Mosiur Rahman told bdnews24.com: "The place where the incident took place will be cordoned off. Experts will inspect the perimeter to ascertain if it is safe or not. Evidence will be collected from there".
He also urged journalists not to enter the cafe.
There were several foreigners inside the café when the terrorists struck on Friday.
Though security agencies involved in the operation said only foreigners had been killed, the family members of at least three Bangladeshis have claimed that their kin are among the dead.
