Chittagong, Sept 12 (bdnews24.com) – Charges have been framed against 38 people, including a BNP leader, for burning 11 people to death in Banskhali 2003.
Charges were framed at the Chittagong Court by the third additional district and session judge Bikash Kumar Saha.
BNP's Aminur Rahman Chowdhury alias Amin Chairman is among those charged.
A two-storey earthen house of Tejendra Shil at Shilpara under Banshkhali upazila was locked from outside and set on fire on November 18, 2003.
Inmates of the house, 11 members of a family including a four-day infant were burnt to death as they slept.
The only survivor of the family, Dr. Bimal Chandra Shil, filed a murder case.
Public prosecutor Abul Hashem told bdnews24.com that the court fixed Oct 17 for depositions.
Hla Ching Pru, assistant superintendent of the CID police and the eighth investigation officer of the case submitted the charge sheet where 39 people were charged adding eight new persons including the BNP leader on Jan 9, 2011.
In the same case 57 people were listed as witnesses, said Hashem.
