Water levels in Bangladesh's major rivers remain below danger marks, but the Padma is expected to rise over the next five days, the Flood Forecasting and Warning Centre (FFWC) has forecast.

In its regular bulletin issued on Saturday, the centre said the Ganges recorded a rise in water level over the past 24 hours, while the Padma remained stable.

The forecast said the Padma's water level may continue to increase over the next five days.

The Ganges is expected to rise over the next two days before remaining stable for the following three days.

However, water levels in both the Ganges and the Padma are expected to remain below danger level throughout the forecast period.

Over the past 24 hours, the Brahmaputra recorded a rise in water level, while the Jamuna remained stable.

The Brahmaputra is forecast to rise for one more day before remaining stable over the following four days.

Water levels in the Surma and Kushiyara rivers in the country's northeast fell over the past 24 hours.

They are expected to remain stable for one day before rising again over the following two days.

In Chattogram Division, water levels in the Muhuri, Gomati and Feni rivers increased over the past 24 hours, while the Halda, Sangu, Selonia and Matamuhuri rivers recorded a decline.

The centre said water levels in these rivers may continue rising over the next day before increasing rapidly over the following two days.
