Prime Minister Tarique Rahman has conveyed his Eid-ul-Fitr greetings to the people in Bangladesh and Muslims around the world.
In a message issued on Friday, the prime minister wished “Eid Mubarak” to all, saying: "I convey my heartfelt good wishes and Eid Mubarak to the people of the country and Muslims across the world."
He expressed hope that Eid-ul-Fitr would strengthen national unity, communal harmony, empathy and social bonds.
"Let’s work together to create a humanitarian, developed, peaceful and prosperous Bangladesh."
In his message, the prime minister stressed that the spirit of Ramadan lay in "restraint, sacrifice, service and self-purification".
"This month-long practice teaches us self-control and to feel others’ plight. Through this, society nurtures compassion and bilateral cooperation."
"The significance of Eid lies in the fact that it reflects the Ramadan teachings on individuals, families, society, and the state. Eid urges us to forget disparities like rich and poor, big and small and to come together with a bonding of love and brotherhood. On this joyous day, we should stand beside the helpless, poor and disadvantaged people in society and share our Eid happiness with them… this should be our pledge.”
Tarique also prayed for happiness, mercy and wellbeing for all on the occasion of Eid-ul-Fitr.
“May Allah guide our country and nation on the path of peace, progress and prosperity, and ensure the welfare of the global Muslim community,” he said.
