A BNP lawmaker has said Sheikh Hasina should be placed in the same “electric shock” chair allegedly used to torture opposition figures in the secret detention centre known as “Aynaghor”.
On Tuesday, she demanded that the deposed prime minister be returned to the country in parliament.
Joining the general discussion on the proposed budget for the 2026-27 fiscal year in parliament, the reserved seat MP Rehana Akter Ranu said 11 people from her constituency in Feni were killed in the July Uprising.
After becoming a member of parliament, the family members of the victims met her and expressed their anger over the role of the police administration and the courts, she said.
According to Rehana, they still demand justice for their dead and requested her to convey the message to the House.
Describing a visit to a “Aynaghor”, the lawmaker said: “I saw the chair in that room where opposition leaders were electrocuted.”

Speaker Hafiz Uddin Ahmad instantly informed Rehana that the time designated for her speech was over, allowing her another minute.
But on her request, the speaker granted her another two minutes.
Rehana said, “I demand that Sheikh Hasina be brought back to the chair where the opposition leaders were subjected to electric shocks.”
She, however, expressed her fear that those, who supported the July Uprising on Facebook by turning their profile pictures red, will face dire consequences once Hasina is back.
Rehana urged the Opposition to maintain unity to help avoid potential adversities.
