Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal, JaSaD, President Hasanul Haq Inu, who was arrested over the killing of a trader during the quota reform protests, has been remanded.
On Tuesday, Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Ali Haider placed him on a 7-day remand for interrogation.
Former information minister Inu was arrested in Uttara on Monday for the death of the trader named Abdul Wadud in the capital’s New Market area during the Anti-discrimination Student Movement.

On Tuesday, police filed a petition to remand Inu for 10 days for questioning.
Pro-BNP lawyers protested with eggs in their hands and pockets before Inu was brought to the court premises.
On Jul 19, Wadud was shot to death in front of the New Market’s Gate No. 1.
A murder case was filed against 130 people, including former premier Sheikh Hasina, and former road transport minister Obaidul Quader.
Abdur Rahman, the victim’s nephew, filed the case on Aug 21.
Inu, who leads his own faction of JaSaD, served as the information minister of the Awami League government during its term from 2014 to 2019. He contested the 12th general election as part of the 14 Party Alliance but did not win.
