The Bangladesh Petroleum Corporation (BPC) has formed “monitoring and control cells” at the central and regional levels to monitor the fuel oil supply situation across the country and resolve complaints.
A BPC order on Sunday said the control cells have been formed in collaboration with the Energy and Mineral Resources Division, the BPC, and its subordinate companies to ensure uninterrupted supply of fuel oil throughout the country from March to May.
The order said the activities of the central and regional monitoring and control cells will be launched immediately and will continue every day until further orders.
Their activities will continue on holidays and communication will be maintained using mobile phones outside office hours.
The central monitoring and control cell has been set up at the BPC BSC building in Chattogram.
Joint Secretary of the Energy and Mineral Resources Division AKM Fazlul Hoque has been made the chief coordinator, BPC Senior General Manager Md Yusuf Hossain Bhuiyan is to be the alternate officer and Deputy Manager Khandaker Sajbir Rahman will be the associate officer.
In addition, General Manager Muhammad Morshad Hossain Azad will serve as the chief coordinator for another monitoring cell of the BPC.
Separate regional control cells have also been formed in different regions of the country. These will operate in Dhaka, Bogura, Khulna, Sylhet and Barishal.
The order states that the regional control cells will regularly send information on the stock, supply and sale of petroleum products from the oil depots of their respective regions to the central control cell.
The stock report prepared on the basis of this information will be shared with the relevant ministries and agencies, including the Energy and Mineral Resources Division.
The local administration has been requested to provide assistance to companies to maintain uninterrupted supply of fuel oil from all the oil depots of the country and ensure availability of fuel oil in remote areas.
The order also states that the regional control cell will regularly report the quantity and sales of fuel oil supplied to dealers and agents during the agricultural irrigation season to the concerned district administrators.
