Police have filed an Anti-Terrorism Act case over a Bangladesh Chhatra League rally and procession in Fatikchhari, naming ex-mayor Manjur Alam, ex-MP Khadizatul Anwar Sony and others among the suspects.
The case names 119 people, filed with Fatikchhari Police on Friday night.
Police have so far arrested three individuals in connection with the incident.
Fatikchhari Police chief Md Rabiul Alam said, “A case has been filed under the Anti-Terrorism Act over a meeting and procession organised by the banned organisation Chhatra League. Twenty-nine people have been named in the case.”
He added, “So far, three people, including Zaman Babu and Saiful Islam, have been arrested.”
According to police, the incident stems from a discussion meeting held on Thursday at a rest house of a religious institution at Fatikchhari Upazila’s Rosangiri.
The meeting was organised under the banner “grassroots and politically victimised leaders of Fatikchhari Upazila Chhatra League”, and was attended by around 100 participants.
Photos from the event later circulated on social media.
Earlier that same day, a torch procession was brought out on the Nazirhat–Maizbhandar road at Rosangiri’s Azimnagar involving activists of Chhatra League, Jubo League, and Awami League.

Police chased the procession and detained two people at the time.
The case statement also refers to both incidents, alleging attempts to destabilise the state, damage state infrastructure, and prepare for conspiratorial activities.
Among the suspects are former mayor Manjur, ex-Awami League MP Sony, former Chhatra League leader Bakhtiar Saeed Iran, and North District Chhatra League General Secretary Rezaul Karim.
When asked about naming Manjur, officer Rabiul said: “The venue where the meeting was held belongs to Manjur Alam.”
Police said operations are ongoing to arrest absconding and unidentified suspects.
