The government has announced the final results of the 47th Bangladesh Civil Service (BCS) examinations for appointments to public sector jobs.

The Public Service Commission (PSC) has recommended a total of 1,521 candidates for government jobs.

Of the candidates, 1,320 have been approved for cadre posts, while another 201 have been nominated for non-cadre positions.

The PSC released the results of the exam on Sunday afternoon.

PSC spokesman SM Matiur Rahman confirmed the results to bdnews24.com.

The PSC first issued the 47th BCS recruitment notice on Nov 28, 2024, seeking to fill 3,487 cadre and 201 non-cadre posts.

Online applications were due to open on Dec 10, but the process was suspended a day earlier.

A revised circular was published on Dec 26, cutting the application fee and reducing the viva marks from 200 to 100, bringing the total score from 1,100 to 1,000.

It also set the maximum age limit at 32 for applicants for the first time.

Applications eventually opened on Dec 29, 2024, and closed on Feb 27, 2025.

The preliminary examination, originally scheduled for Aug 8, 2025, was postponed and held 43 days later, on Sep 19, at 262 educational institutions across all eight divisional cities.

The PSC published the preliminary results on Sep 28, with 10,644 candidates qualifying for the written examination.

After the commission announced that the written exams would begin on Nov 27, some candidates staged protests demanding a postponement.

The PSC refused to alter the schedule, prompting a section of protesters to boycott the exams.

The written exams began as planned on Nov 27 in Dhaka, Rajshahi, Chattogram, Khulna, Barishal, Sylhet, Rangpur and Mymensingh.

Written tests for technical and professional cadres continued until Dec 18.

On Apr 7, the PSC announced that 3,631 candidates had passed the written examination. Viva examinations began on May 11.
