Temperatures rising, but no sign of rain yet

The country’s maximum temperature of 34.5°C was recorded in Rangamati on Friday

Temperatures are rising across Bangladesh, with the Met Office saying there is little prospect of rain in the coming days.

“We had indicated earlier that temperatures would rise after the 15th of February. This trend is expected to continue over the next few days,” Meteorologist Kazi Jebunnesa said on Friday afternoon.

While day and night temperatures may fluctuate slightly, the overall weather pattern will remain largely unchanged, she added.

Asked about the possibility of rainfall, she said parts of the Khulna, Barishal and Chattogram divisions could see light drizzles around Tuesday or Wednesday.

“There is a slight chance of rain in those regions,” she added.

According to the Bangladesh Meteorological Department’s bulletin issued on Friday morning, the weather is expected to remain mainly dry with temporarily partly cloudy skies across the country in the 24 hours from 9am.

During this period, night temperatures may fall slightly, while daytime temperatures are likely to remain nearly unchanged.

In the past 24 hours, the highest temperature in the country was recorded at 34.5 degrees Celsius in Rangamati, while the lowest was 12.2 degrees Celsius in Tetulia of Panchagarh.
