Prime Minister Tarique Rahman has ordered authorities to remove sacrificial animal waste within 12 hours nationwide during Eid-ul-Azha.
After a meeting at the Prime Minister's Office at the Secretariat on Monday evening, Home Minister Salahuddin Ahmed said the premier also issued directives on hide preservation and holiday travel.
Salahuddin said, “Several decisions were made in the meeting, when the prime minister gave several instructions. The next important issue after the sacrifice is waste management.
“We received that decision [Monday]; the prime minister has given it.”
The premier has given instructions to remove waste within the stipulated time in city corporations, municipalities, districts and all over the country where there is a possibility of the wastes overflowing, said Salahuddin.
The local government minister and his deputy will sit with the administrators and mayors of city corporations across the country and also give instructions to the deputy commissioners in a few days, said Salahuddin.
The home minister said they will do their level-best to complete the cleanliness campaign within the stipulated time.
‘Road Safety First Priority’
Road safety was the top priority in the meeting, he said, adding that all roadside trauma centers under the health ministry should be made effective under the leadership of respective civil surgeons.
Doctors, nurses and equipment should be prepared seven days before Eid in the nearest Upazila and district hospitals or other healthcare centres so any situation can be tackled quickly in case of an accident, he stressed.

In order to curb inland water accidents, signboards will be installed at all jetties so passengers can get on and off smoothly, according to the minister.
If any bus driver is found negligent, his licence will be reviewed, he warned, adding that the road transport and bridges minister will hold a meeting with the bus owners and the workers' association on this matter.
The Police Headquarters will launch a monitoring cell a week before the religious festival to ensure proper measures and control traffic on highways.
District police will collect information from around the highways, the home minister said.
No Cattle Market on Roads, Highways
The minister clarified that the government will not allow any sacrificial cattle market on roads and highways.
He, however, said the markets will be permitted near railways so train service is not hindered.
If the number of markets needs to increase, city corporations will arrange a place that poses no risk on the road, said the minister.
Salahuddin said the premier will talk to the relevant departments about rawhide collection and preservation.
