Eid-ul-Azha travel plans are facing fresh disruption at Chattogram’s Shah Amanat International Airport as adverse weather conditions unsettled flight operations amid a growing rush of passengers.

Since Tuesday morning, one domestic flight has been cancelled while three international services were delayed due to inclement weather affecting runway operations.

A Biman Bangladesh Airlines flight BG-138 from Medina, originally scheduled to land in Chattogram, was diverted to Dhaka as weather conditions deteriorated.

The aircraft touched down in the capital at around 9:40am before continuing its journey later, finally arriving in Chattogram roughly four and a half hours behind schedule, Public Relations Officer Mohammad Ibrahim Khalil said.

“It later arrived in Chattogram around 2pm.”

US-Bangla Airlines flight BS-342, operating from Dubai to Dhaka via Chattogram, landed at Shah Amanat Airport in the morning but departed for the capital at 3:09pm, leaving around four and a half hours behind schedule.

Separately, Flydubai flight FB-564 from Chattogram to Dubai took off around 12:15pm, also delayed by about three hours.

Another US-Bangla Airlines service, BS-105 from Chattogram to Dhaka, was cancelled, according to the airport spokesperson.

The Bangladesh Meteorological Department said Chattogram Division recorded 68.7mm of rainfall in the 24 hours up to 3pm.

Officials warned that similar weather conditions are likely to persist through Thursday, Eid day, potentially continuing to disrupt flight operations.
