An Israeli drone strike in southern, war-ravaged Lebanon has killed another man native to Satkhira, officials said, bringing the district’s death toll to three amid escalating regional violence.

The latest victim, Shuvo Kumar Das, 28, was the son of Suranjan Das of Sripratipur village in Kalaroa Upazila.

Kalaroa Upazila administrator (UNO) Ariful Islam said, “On Monday night, Shuvo was caught in a drone strike while moving through a conflict-prone area in Maifadun, Lebanon. We have learned he died on the spot.”

The family confirmed they received news of his death on Tuesday afternoon.

Shuvo’s father Suranjan Das said, “Shuvo had been in Lebanon for nearly three years. He used to look after a house and a fruit orchard there. Our family depended entirely on his income.”

Earlier on Monday afternoon, two other Bangladeshis from Satkhira were killed in a separate Israeli drone strike in Zebdine, Nabatieh.

They were Shafiqul Islam, 40, and Md Nahidul Islam, 20, son of Md Abdul Kader from Kadakati in Assasuni Upazila.

A Bangladesh Embassy official in Lebanon also reported that two more Bangladeshis went missing in another attack later on Monday night.

With these incidents, nine Bangladeshi citizens have been reported killed across West Asia amid the ongoing conflict, including four in Lebanon, two each in the United Arab Emirates and Saudi Arabia, and one in Bahrain.
