After several days of sweltering heat, some parts of the country, including Dhaka, saw some rainfall on Friday.

The Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) forecasts this rain may continue for the next three days.

Meteorologist Muhammad Abul Kalam Mallik told bdnews24.com on Friday night, “For the next three days, we will see some amount of rainfall in all divisions across the country, similar to what we saw today.”

The BMD’s regular bulletin on Friday evening said that light to moderate rain or thundershowers accompanied by temporary gusty or squally winds and lightning may occur at a few places in the Rangpur, Rajshahi, Dhaka, Mymensingh, Khulna, Barishal, Chattogram, and Sylhet Divisions in the 24 hours from 6pm.

Alongside this, moderate to heavy rainfall may occur in some places in the country.

The agency also says that day and night temperatures across the country may drop slightly during this period.

Narsingdi saw the most rain in the 24 hours to 5pm on Friday with 49mm. The BMD also recorded 44mm of rainfall in Chuadanga, 39mm in Chandpur, 32mm in Tangail, and 25mm in Sreemangal.

Cox's Bazar recorded the highest temperature across the country over the period at 36.3 degrees Celsius, while Sylhet saw the lowest at 22.7 degrees Celsius.

Cautionary Signal at Some River Ports

The BMD has forecast temporary gusty or squally winds with speeds of 45-60kph accompanied by rain or thunderstorms may blow in from the west or northwest over regions of Rajshahi, Pabna, Bogura, Tangail, Mymensingh, Dhaka, Faridpur, Barishal, Patuakhali, Noakhali, Cumilla, Chattogram, Cox's Bazar, and Sylhet regions from 3:30pm to 1am on Friday.

Accordingly, river ports in these areas have been asked to display cautionary signal No. 1.
