Shopkeeper hacked to death inside grocery store in Netrokona

Police said a customer who went to buy goods found his body lying inside the shop and raised the alarm

A grocery shop owner has been found dead with his throat slit inside his store in Netrokona's Mohonganj Upazila.

The killing reportedly took place around 11:15pm on Monday in the Uttar Daulatpur area of Mohonganj municipality, according to local police station chief Aminul Islam.

The victim has been identified as 40-year-old Narayan Pal, son of Nripendra Pal from Rautpara area of the town.

He ran a grocery store named "Narayan Store" at Thana Mor.

Police said a customer who went to buy goods found Narayan’s body lying inside the shop and raised the alarm. Locals later informed the police, who recovered the body from the scene.

“We are checking CCTV footage from nearby establishments. An investigation has been launched, keeping all possible motives in mind,” said Aminul.

Police are preparing to send the body to Netrakona Sadar Hospital for post-mortem, while legal action is also being taken in connection with the case.
