Once again, female students have outpaced their male counterparts in the Higher Secondary Certificate and equivalent examinations in terms of pass rate and GPA-5 recipients.
In 2024, there were 665,045 female students among the 1,331,058 examinees. Of them 531,714 passed for a pass rate of 79.95 percent.
A total of 666,013 male students sat for the exams and 503,595 passed at a rate of 75.61 percent.
This year, 80,993 female students received a GPA-5, compared to 64,978 male students. This means 15,955 more female students nabbed the achievement.
In 2023, 49,365 female students got a GPA-5 in the HSC exams, compared to 43,230 male students. This means 6,135 more girls achieved the score compared to the boys.
The chairmen of the 11 education boards in the country released the results of the HSC and equivalent exams from their offices.
Inter-Education Board Coordination Committee President Tapan Kumar Sarker announced a summary of the results for the Dhaka Education Board.
This year, 1,035,309 passed the exams at an overall rate of 77.78 percent.
Meanwhile, 145,911 examinees - approximately 14 percent – received a GPA-5.
In 2023, the pass rate was 78.64 percent and 92,595 of the examinees received a score of GPA-5. This means the pass rate dipped slightly by 0.86 percent, but the number of GPA-5 recipients jumped by 53,316.
