The decision was announced following a virtual meeting of the National Fitra Committee on Wednesday.

The meeting was led by committee President Hafez Maulana Muhammad Mizanur Rahman, a senior pesh imam at the Baitul Mukarram National Mosque.

Fitra, also known as Zakat al-fitr or fitrana, is a form of compulsory charity that Muslims pay at the end of Ramadan.

The Fitra was unanimously set by the committee based on the prices of a basket of items, including wheat and flour.

Fitra can be paid by giving 1.65kg of high quality wheat or flour, with a market price of Tk 70, to the needy.

In a statement, the Islamic Foundation said the Fitra had been set according to the price of wheat, flour, barley, raisins, dates and cheese across the country.
