He said the two neighbours have settled major contentious issues such as land and maritime boundaries through dialogues. “These efforts can be identified as role models in the world,” Momen added.
He made the comment when the new Indian High Commissioner Riva Ganguly Das met him at the foreign ministry on Wednesday.
He welcomed the new Indian envoy and termed the Bangladesh-India ties historic, according to the foreign ministry statement.
Referring to his meeting with his Indian counterpart Sushma Swaraj in New Delhi at the joint consultation commission in February, Momen expressed his hope that the Bangladesh-India ties will be deepened and warmer.
The high commissioner handed a letter from Swaraj to Momen, where the Indian external affairs minister termed the Bangladesh-India bilateral relations a “truly golden chapter”.
She said it was “possible due to statesmanship of Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina”.
The partnership between India and Bangladesh is expanding every day, Sushma added.
