He says international sanctions on top junta officials bar Bangladesh from wider engagement with the Myanmar military
“His daughter informed police that he returned home last night,” Abdul Latif, chief of Dhanmondi Police Station, said on Saturday.
Zaman, who served as Bangladesh’s ambassador to Vietnam, left his home in Dhanmondi in December 2017 to pick up his daughter Samiha Zaman from the Dhaka airport, but never reached there.
A day after Zaman went missing, his family had filed a complaint with the Dhanmondi police.
Police found his car abandoned on the road leading to the Purbachal residential area.
Zaman joined the Bangladesh Army as a captain in 1977 and later left the job for health reasons. In 1982, he joined the foreign ministry.
