Rohinga man held with 700,000 yaba tablets, firearms in Barishal

Rapid Action Battalion or RAB has arrested two men, including a Rohingya, in possession of nearly 700,000 yaba tablets and several firearms in Barishal.

They were arrested from Patuakhali District based on a Detective Bureau tip around 3:30am on Saturday, said Atika Islam, commanding officer of RAB-8 team.

The detainees have been identified as Md Ibrahim, 25, and Md Alam, 30.

Ibrahim hails from Pochchim Pankhali area in Cox’s Bazar’s Teknaf while Alam hails from Balukhali Refugee Camp in Ukhia.

“They were arrested in an operation near Sheikh Kamal Bridge at Patuakhali’s Kalapara Thana”, the RAB official told to media.

 “They are drug dealers. One of them is a Rohingya man. They had 677,056 yaba tablets, shotgun, two magazines, four bullets, four mobile phones, sim cards and Tk 1,975 in their possession.”

Legal action will be taken against them, RAB official Atika Islam said.
