Saudi Arabia thanks Bangladesh for support on Yemen crisis

Saudi Ambassador to Bangladesh Abdullah HM Al-Mutairi has thanked Bangladesh for supporting the kingdom on the Yemen issue.

He also thanked Bangladesh for its “full condemnation” of ballistic missile attacks launched by Yemen’s Houthi militia targeting the his country.

The ambassador was speaking at the reception of the 88th National Day of Saudi Arabia that  he hosted at a Dhaka hotel on Monday night.

Planning Minister AHM Mustafa Kamal was present as chief guest at the event which was joined by a large number of people.

The ambassador said the Saudi-Bangladesh relations are “deep rooted and excellent which is standing on strong foundation of religious, cultural and humanitarian ties since 1975”.

He said it strengthened after the visit of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina to the Gulf kingdom in 2016 and her meeting with the Custodian of Holy Mosques King Salman Bin Abdul Aziz Al Saud, followed by the frequent high-level official visits by the both brotherly countries.

“On this occasion, we have the pleasure to express our thanks to the government of Bangladesh for extending their support to the Kingdom to restore legitimacy in Yemen against the Houthi militias and its full condemnation of ballistic missiles attacks launched by those militias targeting the Kingdom – May Almighty Allah protect her - which reached 190 attacks till now.”

The planning minister acknowledged the role of Saudi Arabia in Bangladesh’s socio-economic development as half a million people are working in the Kingdom and sending money back home.
