Hasinur, who had worked as commander of the Rapid Action Battalion-5 and RAB-7, was jailed for five years for sedition and freed in 2014.
People wearing Detective Branch of police jackets picked Hasinur up from Pallabi around 10pm on Wednesday just after he left home to visit a friend, his brother-in-law Wakil Ahmed told bdnews24.com.
Wakil said he was ‘almost certain’ that the people were police detectives.
No DB official agreed to comment on the issue when bdnews24.com contacted them.
“We’ve heard that Hasinur Rahman has been whisked away. Related people are working on this,” Pallabi Police Station Inspector Moinul Kabir told bdnews24.com.
Hasinur was at the Army Training and Doctrine Command when he lost his job after being charged with sedition.
He had also worked at the Border Guard Bangladesh.
His alleged disappearance comes three days after photographer-activist Shahidul Alam was taken from his home by law enforcers.
Drik Gallery founder Shahidul was later charged with attempting to spread ‘fear and panic’ on the internet using ‘fantastical and provocative lies’ amid student protests for safe roads.
