Man dies in head-on collision between buses in Dhaka

A bus driver has been killed and seven others injured after two buses collided head-on in Dhaka’s Paltan area.

Locals rushed the injured to Dhaka Medical College Hospital after the accident between a Suprabhat bus and a Best Transport agency bus around 5:30am on Monday.
 
Bacchu Mia, the officer-in-charge of DMCH police outpost, told bdnews24.com that a total of eight wounded persons were brought to the hospital. One of them was declared dead by doctors on duty. 
 
The deceased has been identified as 40-year-old Mijan Gazi, a driver of one of the buses. He lived in the Bashabo area in the capital with his family.  
 
The injured have been identified as – Rakib, 20, Rifat, 21, Joynal, 50, Babu, 21, Shaheen, 21, Sudip Chandra, 27, and Salauddin, 20. 
 
Rakib and Rifat have left the hospital after receiving first aid, while the others were admitted, Sub-Inspector Bacchu said.
