This training will assist officers in the identification of illegal migrants, interviewing and debriefing of international passengers and liaising with international law enforcement agencies, the High Commission said in a statement.

It said High Commissioner Alison Blake recently handed over certificates to 110 Special Branch officers who completed the course successfully.

The UK department of Immigration Enforcement International and the British High Commission are working with Special Branch to build their capacity to identify and tackle organised immigration crime and human trafficking.

Congratulating the officers on the completion of their training, High Commissioner Blake said: “I am delighted to salute the personal achievement and commitment shown by the officers of the Special Branch who have successfully completed their English Language Training Course.

“This is a great example of the friendly relations between the UK and Bangladesh and of the excellent practical cooperation between the British High Commission Dhaka and the Special Branch of the Bangladesh Police in tackling organised immigration crime and human trafficking, which is a shared priority for both Governments,” she said.
