Shahin was put on life support on Monday morning. He died at 5pm later in the day, according to doctors at the DMCH’s burn unit.

The 43-year-old, a native of Munshiganj, worked as a manager at a garment store in Old Dhaka.

He lived at Narayanganj’s Adamjee with his wife and an eight-year-old daughter.

The latest casualty takes the death toll of Bangladeshis in the country’s worst aviation tragedy to 27.

Nine Bangladeshi victims are still in hospital care for burn injuries.

The aircraft left for Nepal on Mar 12 and crashed while landing at Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu leaving most of its passengers burnt.

Shahin suffered 32 percent burns and was brought back to Dhaka on Mar 18. Doctors described his injuries as “deep burns” expressing concern.

Doctors in Nepal, however, said Shahin suffered 18 percent burns.

Shahin underwent a surgery on Wednesday. Doctors had earlier said his condition improved after a second surgery on Sunday.

An infection caused excessive bleeding through his nose and mouth, said Dr Hossain Imam, a resident surgeon at the DMCH’s burn unit.

“In such cases, infections spread rapidly and affect lungs and heart as well. This could have caused some cardiac problems.

“We declared him dead around 5pm. Procedures are on to conduct a postmortem examination,” Dr Imam told bdnews24.com.

The body will be handed to his family within the day, he added.

Shahin was among the seven victims out of 10 Bangladeshi victims of the crash, who were brought back to Dhaka. One of them later left for Singapore for treatment.

Doctors have said the remaining five are stable.

Three victims were directly taken abroad from Nepal. Two of them are in Singapore while one is in India. They are out of danger.
