Bangladesh appoints Shameem Ahsan as ambassador to Nigeria

Bangladesh has decided to appoint Md Shameem Ahsan as its ambassador to Nigeria, the foreign ministry says.

A career diplomat, Ahsan joined the foreign services in 1993.

Currently, he is serving as the consul general of Bangladesh in New York.

Earlier, he served Bangladesh missions in Washington, Rome, Nairobi, Doha and Kuwait in different capacities.

He also represented Bangladesh to numerous international conferences.

Ahsan studied political science at Dhaka University.

He completed the national defence course on security, strategic and development issues from the National Defence College. He also completed an Arabic language course at the University of Kuwait in 1997.

He was closely associated with the publication of “Liberation War: Friends of Bangladesh” by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. He has written two books on diplomacy and international relations.
