The plane returned to the Dhaka airport after a technical glitch was detected mid-flight.

The airplane left Dhaka for Syedpur around 12pm on Tuesday, Biman Bangladesh Airlines Junior Ground Officer Zahid Mia told bdnews24.com.

“But it had to return due to technical problems. We expect the flight to leave at 3pm or 3:30pm.”

A Syedpur-based Biman official said that 65 passengers were on board the Dash 8-Q400 aircraft.

“There have been some problems with the cabin pressure. That’s why it returned to Dhaka,” Abu Ahmed, the airline’s manager at the Syedpur airport, told bdnews24.com

The US-Bangla Airlines flight that crashed in Kathmandu on Mar 12 was also a Dash 8-Q400 plane, manufactured by Canada-based Bombardier Inc.

The crash at the Tribhuvan International Airport is the worst aviation disaster in Bangladesh’s history killing 49 of the 71 people on board, including 26 Bangladeshis.
