Former Indian president Pranab Mukherjee leaves Dhaka after five-day visit

Former Indian president Pranab Mukherjee has left Dhaka, ending his five-day visit to Bangladesh.

State Minister for Foreign affairs MD Shahriar Alam saw him off at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport on Thursday, the foreign ministry said. 
 
During his visit, Mukherjee received an honorary doctorate of law from the University of Chittagong and visited his ancestral home at Raozan in the port city. 
 
He also met President Md Abdul Hamid and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. 
 

Mukherjee arrived on Sunday and started his official events a day later by paying respects to Bangladesh’s founding father Sheikh Mujibur Rahman at the Bangabandhu Museum in Dhanmondi.
He also spoke at a literary conference at Bangla Academy on Monday.
