India’s former president Pranab Mukherjee has arrived in Chittagong to a warm reception.
He arrived at Shah Amanat International Airport by a Biman flight in the port city at 11am Tuesday, said Wing Commander Reazul Kabir, manager of the airport.
The Chittagong divisional commissioner, the police commissioner and the deputy commissioner received him at the airport.
He will receive the Honorary Doctorate of Law from the University of Chittagong in the afternoon.

He will then set out for Raozan to visit his ancestral homes and also the birthplace of Masterda Surya Sen, who is famous for leading the Chittagong armoury raid during the British rule in 1930.
He is due to pay tributes to the sculpture of Surya Sen near the Raozan College.
The Indian High Commission will organise a reception for him at the Radisson Blu Chittagong Bay View hotel.
Security has been beefed up in the port city over Mukherjee’s visit.
