Hifazat-e-Islam plans to lay siege to the US embassy in Dhaka on Dec 13 to protest against US President Donald Trump's recognition of Jerusalem as Israel’s capital.
The Qawmi madrasa-based organisation announced their protest programme at a rally at Andarkillah Shahi Jame Mosque in Chittagong on Friday.
The Hifazat leaders demanded that Bangladesh sever diplomatic ties with the US in protest at the declaration.
Waliullah Arman, a member of the publicity cell of the Hifazat, confirmed the 'embassy siege' programme in Dhaka.
Dhaka City Hifazat President Noor Husain Qashemi announced the protest programme.
Trump on Wednesday announced that his country would recognise Jerusalem as Israeli capital defying all his allies in Europe and the Middle East.
Palestinians also demand that annexed East Jerusalem is the capital of a future Palestinian state.
